Moody Newborn Session

I was so excited to see Aimee and Dennis again! In April they hired me to do a bride and groom session in downtown Palm Springs after their courthouse wedding. In mid June their new baby turned one month old! We did the most amazing lifestyle newborn session. I do not have a studio at this time, and they live in Arizona so we needed a cool place to capture some moments with the baby. I suggested a hotel room. The couple rented a room at The Lifehouse Hotel in Palm Springs, which was just spot on with my vision and theirs. It was a nice little baby vacation for the new family of three.

The colors were earthy and moody, and even though the room was small, it was just enough space to make some magic. The room was facing south and with the most glorious view of the mountains. If you have ever witnessed a sunset in downtown Palm Springs, you know exactly the kind of glow I am talking about that was pouring into the wall of windows in that hotel room. We only drew the curtains part way allowing for some shadows too.

Some people ask me- what is lifestyle newborn photography? I usually specify because a client who is looking for the wraps and the tiny sleighs and props is usually not into the style of my newborn photography. I am one to hang out and chat with my clients about all of the cute things the baby is doing. I am also an ear for all of the not cute things the baby is doing. Vent away! I can relate. While this is going on I give simple directions capturing the essence of early parenting days. I do some photos of just the baby and focus on their features such as hands, hair, eyes, toes and everything in between.

There are shots of bottle feedings, and changing clothes as well as posed shots of you all together. Sometimes we get yawns. Sometimes we get cries. Sometimes we get one of those sleep smiles! Those are the best! These galleries basically represent an hour in the life of my client at home (or elsewhere) with their new baby. It is a session you will not regret. Please feel free to book your newborn session as part of my growing families package. You get two half hour sessions, perfect for maternity and first family photos! You also get one hour session and that is great for newborn portraits. For that package the client must book all three sessions paid in full up front, and the discount is $50 off each session. The total is $1100. It is a deal.
